3/5
American Dad: Volume Three continues Fox’s strange method of releasing AD DVDs of overlapping seasons (this set contains the remainder of season two and the beginning of season three). By the third season, American Dad has lost a great deal of its initial shock value and has never lived up to its brother, Family Guy (a MUCH better show). Where South Park managed to up the ‘can they really say that?’ levels season after season, American Dad has fallen into a creative dry spout, relying on recycling ideas that The Simpsons gave the world ten years ago. All this criticism aside, it’s still enjoyable to watch and at times, creepy (the domestic violence/paedophilia themes that litter the series result in a cautious giggle or two) enough to keep it interesting.
Extras: deleted scenes, audio commentary
