With news that Steven Spielberg and Peter Jackson’s upcoming Tintin trilogy –first film scheduled for a 2009 release – will be a motion capture project (similar to Beowulf) it appears Tintin and the Blue Oranges and Tintin and the Golden Fleece will forever be the only live-action films starring the world’s most famous boy journalist, Tintin, and his loyal dog Snowy. Both films were original stories, not taken from the books, which is another highlight. The Blues Oranges, however, isn’t as enjoyable as The Golden Fleece. While the story is hilarious – a blue orange is developed that can grow in any condition, therefore eradicating world hunger, is hastily stolen – the actor playing Captain Haddock has changed and is not nearly as charismatic or amusing as the Haddock in The Golden Fleece. Which really annoyed me. Ultimately, this is a DVD for Tintin collectors.
