Like Global Underground, the Fabric compilations have become elder statesmen in the world of CD series’. Fabric 40: Mark Farina does not disappoint as expected, adding another worthwhile chapter to the ongoing legacies of both Fabric and Farina. Although well recognised for his legendary Mushroom Jazz series, Fabric 40 sees Farina return to his Chicago roots, integrating various genres into a cohesive party set, moving through funky house grooves, techy jackin’ house, deep and dubby beats. His selection is intriguing, slipping between the well-known and the hidden gems, Farina’s carefully put together set is sure to raise an eyebrow or two. With the head-nodding sounds of Derrick Carter, JT Donaldson & Uneaq, DJ Sneak and King Kooba, and the seriously grooving beats of Inland Knights’ Where Ya At?, Mood II Swing’s Closer (Oliver Desmet & Fred Everything Mix) and Non Believers’ Stasera, Mark Farina is one DJ that attention must be duly paid.
