The Bluesfest compilation – like the music festivals of the same name – is a bit of a misnomer because each features artists from a multitude of genres, including 35 acts that performed as part of the 2008 festivals in Byron Bay, Point Nepean, New Zealand, Tasmania and WA. International drawcards like Don Mclean, Jools Holland, Sinéad O’Connor and Wilco are included with local favourites The John Butler Trio, The Cat Empire, The Cruel Sea and Lior. Older nostalgia-fuelled performers like Weddings Parties Anything also sit well with newer acts like Angus and Julia Stone and The Audreys. A mishmash of blues, folk, country, world and rock, the Bluesfest compilation is a delightful blend and meeting of the best minds from different genres and generations. It is a wonderful listening experience consistent with the actual concert event and all from the comfort of your own lounge room. Enjoy!
