8/10

If the music industry were Jurassic Park, Mariah Carey would be the T-rex that towers fiercely over the rest of the other puny dinosaurs/divas. After staging the comeback of all comebacks in 2005, Ms Carey returns with the sequel to The Emancipation of Mimi. Sticking with the old adage of ‘if it ain’t broke don’t fix it’, MC delivers a consistent album full of the RNB flavour that she is now known for. Tracks like the breezy Touch My Body, the seductive I’m That Chick and club banger Migrate fit in well with ballads like the touching Bye Bye and the epic I Stay In Love. Most impressive however is the brooding Side Effects, where she discusses her unhappy marriage to Tommy Mottola. Throw in top-notch production from Danja, JD and Scott Storch, amongst others, and, hate her or love her, you can’t deny Mariah’s staying power.
