happy400.jpgYou can get the full thing online but we thought we’d point out a few highlights from the upcoming Sydney Film Festival, beginning 4 June. Opening the film is Mike Leigh’s new comedy, Happy-Go-Lucky, which picked up a Best Actress award at Berlin earlier this year. Meanwhile the closing night film is the highly-anticipated French animation, Persepolis, which features the voices of an array of esteemed personalities such as Iggy Pop and Sean Penn. Other highlights include the Jack Black/DreamWorks Animation film, Kung Fu Panda (Black will be present at the screening), Michael Haneke’s remake of his own Funny Games, a darkly disturbing film about violence starring Naomi Watts/Tim Roth/Michael Pitt, and Brian de Palma’s Redacted, which premiered at Venice.
