Gosford Park
thumb_dvd---gosford-park.jpgWhile this 2001 film directed by Robert Altman (in excellent form here) is ostensibly a murder mystery, it also manages to tackle a variety of other intriguing themes on parallel levels.

The Parole Officer
thumb_dvd---parole-officer.jpgUncut called this the “best British comedy since The Full Monty”. Well Uncut, you’re a music magazine so maybe you should just stick to the music. The Full Monty wasn’t that funny, anyway. (Of course, that whole argument is completely hypocritical.)

Snuff Box
thumb_dvd---snuff-box.jpgSnuff Box comes from the minds of Rich Fulcher and Matt Berry, probably most known in Australia as regulars in The Mighty Boosh (as Bob Fossil and Dixon Bainbridge respectively).

Frisky Dingo: Season One
thumb_dvd---frisky-dingo.jpgI have to precede this review by asking: where has this show been all my life? I’ve never been a fan of Adult Swim, the entire channel’s shtick going well over my head most of the time and their brand of humour has never been in line with what I like (namely wry British comedies).

Family Ties: The First Season
thumb_family-ties.jpgIf you’re 24 or older you’ll probably remember the television show, Family Ties, which aired for 180 episodes from 1982 to 1989. Starring Michael J. Fox in the role that made him a household name, this is a serious nostalgia trip and a fantastic time capsule for Fox fans.

Weeds: The Complete Second Season
thumb_weeds-season-2.jpgHaving come into the second season of Weeds without watching the first – a friend told me the first season wasn’t all that great – I was expecting to have the somewhat difficult task of having to dissect the background histories and stories of the characters.
